Sesc SP paid homage to the life and work of Yanomami shaman and political leader Davi Kopenawa, as part of the celebration of receiving the title of doctor honoris causa, granted by the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp). The event reflects on Kopenawa's contribution in the fields of arts, sciences, spirituality, politics and human rights.

With artistic direction by Andreia Duarte (@andreiaduartedefigueiredo), the ceremony was attended by Ailton Krenak (@_ailtonkrenak), Carlos Papá, Denilson Baniwa (@denilsonbaniwa), Eugênio Lima, José Celso Martinez Correa, Lilly Baniwa (@lillybaniwa), Manuela Carneiro da Cunha and Vic Van Poser. The master of ceremonies was the teacher, artisan and philosopher Cristine Takuá (@cristinetakua), from the Maxakali people, and the scenography had images by Joseca Yanomami (@yanomamijoseca) and Claudia Andujar.

The “Kopenawa Effect” program includes artistic activities at the Antunes Filho Theater, at the Events Square and at the #SescVilaMariana Auditorium.
